Seokai is an AI SEO app for Shopify, and getting it running takes about as long as a coffee break. This walks through the whole thing: install, permissions, the first catalog import, and the handful of settings worth flipping on day one so the app starts working for you straight away.

Install it

  1. Find Seokai on the Shopify App Store and install it.
  2. Read the permissions it asks for, then approve to continue.
  3. Seokai opens inside your Shopify admin, ready for first-run setup.

What the permissions are actually for

To write SEO metadata, Seokai has to be able to read your products, collections, pages, and articles, and to update their SEO fields. Those access rights are the scopes you approve during install. It asks for what it needs to do the job and nothing extra, and Shopify keeps the final say with you.

The first import

Right after install, Seokai pulls in your existing catalog so it has something to analyze. It reads through your products, collections, pages, and articles, then works out your current SEO scores and how much of the store is already optimized. A larger store takes longer here. You don't have to sit and watch it; keep using the app and come back to the full picture once the import wraps up.

Day-one setup

  1. Open the statistics dashboard to see your starting coverage and scores.
  2. Turn on automation so new products and collections get metadata generated on creation.
  3. Enable structured data, and check your language settings if you sell into multiple markets.
  4. Run a quick SEO health audit to see where the biggest opportunities sit.
  5. Optimize a few items, one by one or in bulk, just to watch it work.

Plans and credits

Seokai runs on credits and has a free plan to get you going, with paid tiers that add capacity and the more advanced features. Your current plan and credit usage live on the in-app billing page, and you can upgrade whenever it makes sense for your store.

Where to go next

With setup done, the rest of the Get Started guides cover bulk optimization, image alt text, structured data, the audits, and AI visibility. A little configuration now is what lets Seokai keep the store optimized on its own as you grow.
